Take heart, Roloffs, the kitchen reno is always the worst and that one is behind you!

I was really surprised to learn that Amy was actually referring to marital separation, rather than taking up temporary residence - the strain was clearly too much.

As for Camerino, he didn't figure much in yesterday's episodes, but he's still working behind the scenes and it sounds like the poor guy is going to get recruited to help keep the work moving along as the other paid contractor take a 'hiatus'. The interesting thing is that while Labour Day is celebrated on May 1 through most of the world, in Canada and the US, Labour Day falls in September. I've always wondered what that is: an acquaintance at university told me it's because the "capitalists" celebrate the harvest (i.e.: September) while the workers celebrate the sowing (i.e.: spring), but he was an avowed Communist, so I'm not sure we can take his word on it.

I'm sure Camerino and his crew are busy with pumpkin planting - last year looked like it was a mad dash to get the plants in the ground, so hopefully this year will have been planned more smoothly. My daughter has been pining after a pumpkin plant, but even with our suburban backyard, we don’t have room for them. I am looking forward to seeing how this year’s pumpkin crop is shaping up for the Roloff farm though and how Camerino is managing with the increased demand for pumpkins as the farm’s celebrity increases with that of the Roloffs.

Bravery

Anyone who caught last night's episode about the major reno happening at the Roloff Farm also caught an act of special bravery by Camerino: attending Home Depot with Matt and Amy. Really going to Home Depot at all takes some courage - the tall aisles, the myriad tools, the elusive orange-clad salespeople... and of course the knowledge that no matter how much you buy there, you will get home and discover that you need something else.

But to go with a couple who have already demonstrated that they don't shop well together and stand quietly by without getting entangled... well, that's why Camerino has a fan club.

ps: I do need to send a little virtual pat on the back to Sven, who took one for the team yesterday when he watched the contractor tear down his beautiful mural.
